Users are constantly faced with the question of how you can seamlessly move from iPhone to Samsung smartphone, what data will be lost and if there is anything you can do about it. The question can be put more broadly, namely – how to move from any smartphone to a device from Samsung and how to properly transfer data. This has become especially relevant with the release of smartphones with flexible screens, in this generation both Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 are particularly loved by iPhone owners, as they give the very image component, which is not so much in the familiar models.
Initially, Samsung took care of such a move and made every effort for this, for example, in previous generations of smartphones often included a special adapter USB Type C to USB, so you can directly to the Galaxy to connect the same iPhone, using a Lightning cable.
Today there is no need for such an adapter, because the iPhone cable has a USB Type C connector and can be connected directly to the Galaxy.
How do people usually move from iPhone to Galaxy? They install the applications they use by hand, which often pull all the data from the cloud. For example, there is no problem with the same Telegram, all your data can be obtained on the new device, including pictures. But the same WhatsApp does not allow you to transfer chats and media files between the two systems, synchronize data will not work (yes, it’s strange, but it looks that way). So you need a program that will allow you to painlessly transfer everything you need, including WhatsApp and all the data from this messenger.
The Samsung Smart Switch Mobile app has been around for years, and it’s easy to migrate from your iPhone or any Android smartphone to your Galaxy. You need to install the app on your Galaxy, but you don’t need to install anything on your iPhone, the Samsung app will access your data by itself.
For the iPhone, the easiest way is to copy all the data from iCloud, just specify your username and password, and the app will do the rest for you. The way is easy, but maybe not the fastest if you have a lot of data in the cloud.
Before transferring data, it’s a good idea to charge each device so that it won’t let you down at the most crucial moment. With each device you choose what role it will play (receive or give data). Take the Galaxy Z Flip3 and choose that it takes data, follow the instructions on the screen. It’s so simple, even a child could handle it. If you choose the iPhone, when you connect by cable, you must be sure to check “Trust this device”, this box will appear on the screen.
Depending on the amount of data that is stored in your old smartphone, the transfer can take from a few minutes to an hour. If you want to transfer data from WhatsApp, all your conversations, then be sure to specify it in the settings.
You can’t go back to this point afterwards. On each device you need to update WhatsApp to the latest version and do this even before you start the data transfer, I think it’s not difficult.
Let me remind you that in WhatsApp you will need to use the same number on both devices, which means that your SIM card from the old device moves to the new one. Where it will be at the time of the transfer doesn’t matter, but you need to set up WhatsApp on the new device before you start transferring data. You will be prompted to read the QR code from the screen of the old machine, and then all the chats will be transferred. Of the disadvantages, I note that in the gallery appear all the media from the messenger, they are mixed with your pictures, if they are already on the new machine. But this is a small thing compared to the fact that you do not have to dance with tambourine to transfer chats, as it was once.
When switching from an Android smartphone, there are no difficulties at all, everything works like clockwork. I should note that you can migrate not all the data, you are free to choose what you need. When transferring from iOS, they will also try to pick up the same applications or show you their analogues. The main issue for iOS users is getting used to the apps they used to use on the iPhone. For example, Apple Music is also available on Android, so the entire transfer is purely about entering your username and password and accessing all playlists and your subscription. But you can’t transfer FaceTime call data for obvious reasons, since it’s a messenger that only exists on iOS.
Many people use clouds to store their data, so they often already contain all the photos and videos. I have Google Photos for this purpose, which has a couple of TB of space, and I usually skip this item when transferring photos. The app is in the Galaxy’s default memory, so just log into it to see all your files that are saved in the cloud.
Another interesting thing is that Samsung Smart Switch can be installed on your computer, an app without the prefix Mobile. With it you can create full-fledged archives of your smartphone and then install them fully or partially on the new device (as an option, it can be just a smartphone archive). The application is convenient because it allows you to quickly create an archive on your computer, which gives an additional insurance against data loss on your device, periodically such archives are worth creating.
Thinking back to how everything was set up just a while ago, when you had to manually set each application, send your documents and media one way or another, now everything is very different – you connect to the old device and just transfer the data. The level of complaints about the same Smart Switch Mobile is about the following – it doesn’t carry the screen wallpaper! And it shows how spoiled we are for wanting a complete copy of the iPhone on a Galaxy smartphone. The curious thing is that in OneUI we have different settings for the desktop, keyboard controls, and when transferring from the iPhone, a style that resembles iOS is enabled. That is, it creates an environment as similar as possible to the one one lived in before the migration. And many people sincerely believe that this is the only way to control a smartphone, although this is certainly not the case.
I wanted to remind you in a short text that the move to Galaxy is not that difficult, especially since this question is increasingly being asked by those who have lived for years on the iPhone and are migrating from there. We hope that your move will be successful in every way!
